Vaja produces a number of cases for the Q, but the classic is the very first created. You can order your case with or without the rivet clip system, which is unique to Vaja. If you order the rivet clip, then the case comes with a built in button on the back side.

Last month we looked at the Motorola Moto Q smartphone, and this month we get to take a look at the most expensive leather case on the market for the Q. Vaja, Inc. is a company based out of Buenos Aires, Argentina and it has specialized in making handcrafted leather products for years. Here is a quote from the company’s website that talks about the quality of the leather:

“All leather in our products is full grain cowhide. These hides are from the top ten percent of Argentina’s leather and are selected for quality, strength, character and grain. They have not been altered in any way thereby allowing the natural markings and character to show through. Full grain cowhide is generally much cleaner and has minimal scarring and insect bites. This results in a more expensive product than other altered grain leathers, but we feel this is warranted to produce a product of extremely high quality. Our products are made one at a time in our own factories by skilled craftsmen who maintain the highest quality standards in the leather industry.”

While there are many competing case products out there on the market, such as the toughskin series or the crystal clear plastic cases, the Vaja line of cases differentiate itself from by its high quality leather. This is also why these cases are almost 10 times more expensive than the competition. Consider some of the attributes of leather:

• Leather is incredibly strong! When maintained correctly, leather has a very long life expectancy.
• Leather has a distinctive feel and aroma.
• Leather is durable, and like wine, it gets better with age!

The female part of the clip that fastens to your belt (or dashboard or whatever) is magnetized and includes a quick release button. Out of all the clip systems I have seen the Rivet Clip has been the easiest to use. Also, the built in button on the backside of the phone is small enough to allow you to put the phone in your pocket and not notice the clip.

Here is what I really liked about the case:

1. Looks great on the Moto Q (professional)
2. Provides good protection from low impact drops and scratches
3. Has cutouts for all the ports, so you don’t have to take the case off to get access to something
4. Has a screen protector
5. The Rivet Clip system is the best clip system I have seen

Here is what I didn’t like about the case:

• It is really hard to take the case off of the Q
• It would be nice to see removable and replaceable screen protectors.

Overall, the Vaja Classic for the Q is by far the best choice for a leather case. Although it will cost you much more than the competition, the difference is a professional look handcrafted quality. Not only that, but you can’t get the Rivet Clip anywhere else.
