According to information from the New York Times Google plans its search function on the iPhone with a voice control to expand. The user speaks his request in the mobile phone and gets a list of relevant hits on the display. The application will be free from Friday, 14 November in the App Store will be available.
The software automatically detects when the user performs a query. The integrated acceleration sensor detects them as the iPhone is held and turns in the recording mode, if it leads to the ear. The request will be converted into a file that the Google servers will be analyzed, then the matching results back to the iPhone.
In the future, including local search results will be added. This represents the application via the integrated GPS receiver to determine location of the iPhone. Google promises from local search results in higher future advertising revenue from companies such as pizza, coffee chains or supermarkets. Still, this service is offered free of charge, however.
The search queries on speech is not entirely new. Since 2007, Google offers the service 'Google Voice Local Search' to. The user can have the free number 1-800-goog-411 after searching nearby stores where they name or a category such as bank indicate. The automatic system connects him directly with the requested business or send him an SMS with the information. The information service stands behind the BlackBerry Maps application for mobile phones, with the owner of the PushMail smartphones can ask local results. It is currently only offered in the U.S. and Google has made no announcement, the service also in other countries. Yahoo and Microsoft have a search by voice into their mobile software oneSearch 2.0 and integrates Live Search.
