0.05 millimeters: Samsung shows super-thin OLED displaySamsung aims at FPD International 2008, a trade show for manufacturers of flat screens, an ultra-thin OLED display before. It impresses with a depth of only 0.05 millimeters, so it is half as thick as a human hair. The display was previously thinnest of Sony in April 2008 display at the exhibition presented in 2008 in Japan and was 0.2 millimeters thick.

Cingular 8525 upgrade announced

Today AT&T announced an update to the Cingular 8525, although it wasn't the highly anticipated upgrade to Windows Mobile 6.  Nonetheless the ROM Upgrade announced on HTC's website will probably make your device a little less buggy and the like.  Actually, we don't know for sure what this update will do because netiher AT&T nor HTC published that information.

Cisco stomps on Apples territory by introducing a family of products under the name "iPhone"

On Monday Cisco introduced a family of devices that utilize Voice over IP (VoIP) technology, which are being marketed with the name “iPhone”. Cisco claims to have owned the trademark to the iPhone name for over a decade and that it has plans to use the name in its longer term strategy for created networked homes.

The problem, of course, is that the name “iPhone” has been touted by the media to be the name of the rumored iPod Cell phone project that Apple might be working on. In fact, Apple owns the domain name iphone.org, and has even filed for trademarks on the name overseas.

HP Introduces rx4240 and rx4540 iPAQ's in Japan

HP is gunning to be the only one in the Pocket PC market with a number of devices available. HP has introduced the rx4240 and rx4540 Mobile Media Companions today. The Pocket PC devices run in landscape mode by default. They include 2.8" 320x240 pixel screens with 400 MHz Samsung processors. The rx4240 includes 128 MB ROM and the rx4540 also includes 1 GB of flash storage. Both devices include SD, 802.11g, and Bluetooth. Currently the devices are only offered in Japan, but it is rumored the devices will be announced in the US in a couple weeks.
