Feature phone

A term used to refer to regular mobile phones, in contrast to Smart Phones. A feature phone is best defined by what it does not have. It does not have a QWERTY board. It does not have a Touch screen. It does not have any advanced features that 90% of the cell phone market doesn't have.

It may have a digital camera , run Java or C appplications, probably through J2ME or BREW. Feature phones do not typically have access to more advanced applications written in native code, such as Symbian.

Other terms for a "Feature Phone" include, Dumb Phone, Regular Phone. If someone is referring to a Mobile_phone, or Cell_phone they are probably referring to a "Feature phone." Some companies, such as Helio, which exclusively support smart phones, have used marketing campaigns such as "Don't call it a phone, it's got myspace mobile." They have tried to use that feature to distinguish their devices from your average "Feature Phone."
