|
Offline browser for all types of PDA. It operates as a free service with which the user accesses the various channels that can be signed, that is, the more than a thousand websites with AvantGo. Each time you perform synchronization, AvantGo detects changes in each channel and PDA to download the updated information. You can also upgrade the content of the channels if the PDA has an Internet connection via modem, wireless modem or GSM mobile compatible. The system consists of browser client software running on the PDA, a synchronization server, and (optionally) an Internet-connected PC to transfer Web pages into the PDA. Users can create a free account and set up channels to be stored on their device during synchronization. Stored pages can be read later using the built-in Web browser without reconnecting to the Internet. Users can subscribe to many channels ranging from general news to a wide range of special interest channels related to business, education, entertainment, health, sports, technology, travel and other categories. Users may also set up custom channels of almost any web page, including linked pages up to a preset size and "link depth". These "Personal Channels" are available at no charge, while organizations that use the AvantGo service as a business tool are required to pay a fee based upon the number of subscribers. The AvantGo service is owned and operated by iAnywhere, Inc., a subsidiary of Sybase, Inc. |
